A NEW Oak Mall store is shining bright after a successful opening at the weekend.
Jewellery outlet Warren James opened its doors on Saturday to lots of excited shoppers.
Crowds flocked to the store launch with queues out the door for most of the afternoon.
Claire Jefcoate, the Oak Mall manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Warren James in the Oak Mall.
“They sell high quality products at good value for money and they have been very popular with our customers so far.
“Their takings that day were definitely higher than what the store expected.”
One of the UK’s biggest jewellery retailers, the Greenock outlet is among 190 across the country, including stores in Braehead, Paisley and Glasgow city centre. The launch is a welcome boost for the Oak Mall after a difficult period for the town’s shopping centre.
Over the past two years the Oak Mall has seen the closure of big brands such as Dorothy Perkins, WH Smith, and Burton.
The Tele also revealed this summer that high street giant, Marks and Spencer, will leave the mall next year for the new retail park in Port Glasgow.
But mall bosses remain optimistic about the centre’s future and are pleased with their latest arrival, as they try to lure more new tenants.
Ms Jefcoate said: “This is a very strong addition to our great line up of stores.”
