THE captain of Greenock Cricket Club has reached a major milestone by scoring his 1,000th run for the side.

Greg McDougall reached the landmark on Saturday in a match against East Renfrewshire.

He also took his 50th catch for Greenock on the same day.

Congratulating him, a spokesperson said: “A club stalwart and local legend, everyone at Greenock Cricket Club is delighted for the skipper and we look forward to watching him add to his career total this season.

“Congratulations Greggy and here's to many more.”
