WITH 'Dry January', booze-quitting charity drives and encouragement to get fit coming from every quarter, many of us will be giving some thought on how best to reach a level of fitness to help us ward off the many winter colds, flu viruses and other illnesses surrounding us. Here are some shots of the people of Inverclyde doing their best to reach a level of fitness.
Pic1: Taken in the year 2000, this shot shows fitness comes in many guises. Break-dance expert Stewart Walker pulled some inspirational moves for kids attending a dance-fitness session at Greenock Sport Centre in the year 2000.
Pic2: Taken at the start of 2017, this picture was part of a feature published to encourage people to take up their own fitness programme. These regular users of Gourock Gym wanted to help people who may feel self-conscious to join them in taking their first steps to a healthy lifestyle.
Pic3: Getting in early, this group of youngsters got stuck into a tots' gymnastics class run by Christine Anderson at Greenock Sports Centre back in 2005.
Pic4: What better way to get fit than put your energies into helping others! This picture shows Inverclyde people taking part in a charity fun run organised by Greenock's Waterfront Gym in 2010.
Pic5: The action moved to Boglestone Sports Centre in Port Glasgow when gym-goers there staged an aerobathon in 2009.
Proceeds from their efforts provided funds for Inverclyde's Special Kids charity.
