A MAN accused of having a stand-up street fight with a woman has had a fresh trial date set after failing to turn up for a hearing last month.

Dale Carrick, 48, is said to have fought with co-accused Ashley McNeil on Montgomerie Street in Port Glasgow on January 25, 2023.

McNeil, 33, is charged with repeatedly shouting, swearing, uttering derogatory remarks and making a threat of violence, with the alleged offences said to be racially motivated and aggravated by prejudice relating to disability, according to court papers.

Carrick also shouted, swore and repeatedly made violent threats, prosecutors claim.

McNeil is further charged with spitting on a male police officer's face, while she allegedly assaulted another male PC by attempting to dig her nails into his hand and scratching him.

Both accused are said to have obstructed or hindered five constables - three male and two female - by struggling with them, tensing their arms and resisting arrest.

Carrick, who now has a Glasgow address, and McNeil, of Montgomerie Street, are due to stand trial on July 17.
