Preparations are meanwhile well under way to get the iconic outdoor facility ready, with the pool fully drained and the empty tank being prepped and painted.

Marc McFarlane, facility manager, said: "We are hoping to build upon last year’s success. The pool received a lot of national exposure from Blur using Gourock Pool as the front cover of their album.

"Television crews were down to do live broadcasts and we noticed a significant increase in visitors coming from all across the country to use our magnificent pool.”

Greenock Telegraph:

Firm favourites returning again this year will include the series of Starlight Swims, the Inverclyde Leisure Triathlon and Doggy Day Swim at the end of the season.

The pool is celebrating its 115th year.

Before the 1960s it wasn't heated but now it is a pleasant 29 degrees and as the only outdoor heated saltwater pool in the West of Scotland it attracts visitors from far and wide.

With more of them than ever expected this summer bosses are currently on the lookout for staff.

Marc told the Tele: "We are currently recruiting for the summer season.

"We are looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, who go that extra mile to ensure memorable experiences."
