ARDGOWAN Hospice has thanked staff from a Greenock opticians for taking time out of their schedules to volunteer for the charity.

Five employees from Specsavers' Oak Mall branch have been helping out the hospice’s admin team over a period of 12 weeks.

Jen Turner, Michelle Hamilton, Susie O’Neill, Susie Little and Wilma Little’s efforts have freed up time for Ardgowan Hospice staff, allowing them to focus on ‘hugely important’ work caring for those in need of support in Inverclyde.

Volunteer co-ordinator Heather Kyle said: “A huge thank-you to Specsavers in Greenock for their commitment to corporate volunteering over the past 12 weeks.

“Partnerships like this are invaluable assets to Ardgowan Hospice, enabling us to continue providing essential services to our community.

Claire Kincaid, store director at Specsavers Greenock, says: ‘I’m incredibly proud of those in the team who got involved and donated their time, and provided assistance to the team at Ardgowan Hospice.

“We will be looking to commit to this volunteering for as long as we possibly can through to the summer.”
