COMPASSIONATE colleagues from an Inverclyde supermarket are taking on a tartan trek to help a vital local charity.

Staff from Tesco in Greenock will be tackling the Kiltwalk together on April 28, to raise money for suicide prevention charity Man On Inverclyde.

The big-hearted walkers decided to generate money for the support service in memory of people across Inverclyde who have taken their own lives.

Tesco Greenock team member Karen Williams tragically lost her son Robert Montgomery to suicide last November.

Greenock Telegraph:
Karen says she is 'overwhelmed' that members of the team at the store have decided to raise money for Man On in memory of people like Robert who have passed away.

She said: "I'm truly grateful.

"I hope this money will help people in the future and save lives.

"It's so important that people are aware of the work that the team at Man On does, and that they know it's okay to talk about how they're feeling."

The team taking on the Glasgow Green to Balloch trek includes store manager James Reid plus James Crawford, Linda Stewart, Anne Weir, Sam Fitzharris⁩, Martin Hitchinson, Kieran Devine, Bethany Follan and Chloe Simpson.

Organiser and popular community fundraiser James Crawford has set up an online fundraiser on JustGiving to accept donations and sponsorship, and the page has already raised more than £400.

The store will also have a charity collection bucket at the front desk for anyone who wants to drop off donations.

James says any amount, large or small, will be hugely appreciated.

He added: "We're doing this to help Man On continue the amazing work they do.

"We want to help anyone who is struggling and support our colleagues, and people from all over Inverclyde, who have been affected by suicide.

"We're so pleased with the amount we've raised already and hope that we'll collect even more before the walk."
