GREENOCK Town Hall hosted an evening of glitz and glamour as Ardgowan Hospice’s annual ball raised almost £20,000 for the worthy local cause.

Generous guests dressed their best and dug deep to support the much-loved charity at an event which featured plenty of music, dancing and entertainment.

Comedian and TV presenter Des Clarke hosted the gala and the gathered guests were entertained by magician Billy Reid as they were treated to a three-course meal laid on by FirstChoice Catering.

Talented local band Diego also provided entertainment as the attendees danced the night away.

There was a live auction featuring prizes donated by event sponsors Ardgowan Distillery and Arnold Clark, with Gourock footballer and Celtic star Greg Taylor handing over a signed Celtic top.

The left back was unable to make the ball due to footballing commitments the following day, but kindly offered to match the £500 bid that was made for his strip.

A wooden Scotland National Team crest was donated by Greenock firm Ripping Router which also provided popular with bidders.

Local bakers Purdies Pantry, who have long supported the hospice, generously supplied over 250 table favours free of charge for the charity’s guests.

Commenting on the night, Ardgowan Hospice fundraising manager Joanna Hunter said: "A heartfelt thank you to all who attended the Ardgowan Hospice Annual Ball.

“We extend our deepest appreciation to our sponsors, Ardgowan Distillery and Arnold Clark, and to all who generously donated prizes.

“Together, your support enabled us to raise an incredible £18,500. Your kindness ensures we can continue our vital work supporting those affected by life-limiting illnesses.

“Thank-you for making a difference."
