A DEDICATED team from a Greenock optician's who are focused on providing a great service to customers are celebrating a big win at a national awards ceremony.

Reid Mackellar scooped the prestigious Optician of the Year title at the Scottish Independent Retail Awards.

The business took the honour at a glitzy ceremony held in Glasgow's Doubletree by Hilton thanks to racking up the highest number of votes from the public.

One of the store's directors, Mhairi McGeehan, said they were thrilled to win the category, especially because it was voted for by the public.

Mhairi said: "The team from the awards contacted us to tell us we had been shortlisted and we were so pleased with that.

"We encouraged all of our customers and patients to vote for us and that's what won us the title.

"The staff are all absolutely delighted.

"Everyone has been telling us it's so well-deserved.

"It's great to get feedback like that from people."

Reid Mackellar has been located on West Blackhall Street in Greenock since 1936.

Mhairi says spending time with customers is what helps the business stand out from its competitors.

She added: "We're very proud of being a local independent business and providing a great service.

"We have an amazing team who all work really hard.

"This award acknowledges their commitment."
