A GOUROCK restaurant is celebrating after scooping a top prize at the Scottish Curry Awards for the second year running.

The winners of the 16th instalment of the annual awards bash were announced on Monday night during a ceremony at Glasgow’s Doubletree by Hilton Hotel - and Inverclyde eatery Taj Mahal came out on top in two categories.

The Kempock Street venue was named curry restaurant of the year for the south west of Scotland, as well as overall winner for the whole of the country.

 

Taj Mahal's owners picked up the Neighbourhood Restaurant of the Year award at last year's event.

Nawaab in Kilmacolm was also a finalist in the Voter's Choice Restaurant of the Year South West category, Greenock's Spice Curry was up for Curry Restaurant of the Year Central Scotland, Port Glasgow's Curry Lounge was named in the Curry Restaurant of the Year South West category, The Manzil in the Port for Takeaway of the Year South West, and Tulsi Indian Aroma was shortlisted for Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year.
