POLICE have confirmed that a group of young boys who became trapped on the hillside in Greenock yesterday evening were helped to safety without injury.
Officers sealed off an area of Lyle Hill on Friday following reports that the youngsters were unable to safely make their way down.
A multi-agency rescue operation took place with a police helicopter also circling the scene and members of the public were asked to avoid the location while efforts got underway.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Telegraph today: "Around 5.15pm on Friday, April 26, we received a report of four boys on Lyle Hill, Greenock, unable to safely make their way down.
“Officers attended with partner agencies and assisted the boys off the hill.
“Nobody was injured.”
