A LABOUR councillor has hit back after his party colleague was accused with ‘playing fast and loose’ with the truth over Inverclyde GP Out of Hours services.
In a letter published in today's Telegraph, SNP MSP Stuart McMillan disputes claims made by Labour list MSP Paul O’Kane about the content of a recent briefing on the future of the vital local service.
Mr O’Kane had claimed that politicians were told that the local GP Out of Hours service was facing cutbacks because of ‘NHS Funding cuts by the SNP Government, and a lack of doctors’.
Mr McMillan pushed back against this assertion, saying that neither he nor his two staff members who were in the meeting heard anyone making such a statement.

The SNP politician’s letter has now drawn a further response from Councillor Martin McCluskey on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Mr McCluskey has claimed that the health board’s primary care strategy outlines a ‘lack of investment’ in out-of-hours services and has now accused SNP politicians of failing to listen to health officials about primary care budgets.
