A GREENOCK musician is set for a return to Europe’s biggest festival paying homage to the iconic Bob Dylan.

Robert Harrison, pictured, will take his critically-acclaimed ‘Bobby Does Dylan’ act on stage at the 10th annual DylanFest in Moville, Donegal, this weekend.
Such is the popularity of the Greenock singer and actor, he is returning for the third year in a row after impressing on his debut in 2014.

The event kicks off today and runs until Sunday.

Saturday will be Robert’s third appearance at the festival but for the first time he will team up with Italian tribute act Al Diesan, who is regarded as the finest Dylan impersonator in Europe.

Event boss Gerry McLaughlin, who is originally from Greenock, said: “It looks as if we are going to have a bumper weekend, with a heatwave predicted.

“This is Robert’s third year and we’re delighted to welcome him back.

“This is the first year that he is teaming up with Al Diesan and we’re all really excited about it.

“What could be better than listening to, or playing, Dylan songs on a great day while overlooking Lough Foyle.”

The festival takes place over four days around the idyllic seaside town of Moville. Greenock singer and actor Robert, who has appeared in a host of films and TV shows, met his idol Dylan three years ago after seeing a YouTube clip of the entertainer and the music legend is said to have joked ‘you must owe me lots of royalties then’.

Festival organiser Gerry said: “We’re delighted to have Bobby back to play for us again in the Caiseal Mara (castle by the sea) hotel.

“He made such a huge impression when he was here last year and was on both Ireland’s TV3 on the Seven O’Clock Show and Highland radio for an interview and song.

“Indeed, he’s part of the reason that Tara Boehm is flying across the Atlantic again.

“This year will be special with perhaps Europe’s two best Dylan acts playing together on the Saturday night. That is not to be missed.

“It’s great to see a fellow Greenock man joint headlining the festival.

“He will also be bringing over another Greenock musician, Tony Cooper, to play keyboards with him and well-known Greenock musician Dave McClure is coming too.

“The weather forecast is for hot and sunny so we are looking forward to a great weekend of Dylan in the sun.”
