YOUR recent correspondent 'Name and Address Supplied' asked a question in his/her letter about the protest outside the MSP's office: “What were cohort hoping to achieve?”.

I would say they were hoping to highlight the serious financial constrictions placed upon our local council by the SNP due to the budget settlement whereupon cuts to local services have to be considered. Cuts that will affect the most vulnerable and needy in our towns.

They were highlighting what seems to be blackmail being used to enforce Humza Yousaf’s latest middle/higher class voter bribe of a council tax freeze. There is extra funding available, but only if you toe the SNP line. They are interfering in local democracy.

In reality it would be an affront to the people of Inverclyde if local elected representatives, activists and worried citizens did not protest at the inept governance of the current ruling party and their Green helpers in Holyrood.

Who benefits from this council tax freeze? One person households already receive 25 per cent discount and people in receipt of benefits or who have low incomes receive further discounts (if anyone thinks they may be entitled check Citizen's Advice online, which has good information).

Humza knows he’s losing his middle class vote, so has to find a way to lure them back. Who doesn’t love a voter bribe that will save those with money more money?

No doubt somehow there will be the usual nationalist spin and the situation will be blamed on the UK Government (nothing is ever the nationalists' fault).

Please bear in mind we receive higher funding than tax take per head every year. It’s all about how these funds are used. The SNP have been irresponsible with our money and squandered many millions of pounds.

I've listed some of those in previous letters.

It's a shame that this protest highlighting the SNP incompetence has upset the letter writer. Newsflash. We still live in a democracy. People are allowed to peacefully hold a demonstration/protest.

I'm sure the letter writer approves of nationalist protestors who march about our cities, towns and bridges disrupting people’s lives month after month waving Saltires?

It is telling that nationalist activists are writing into your page attacking Labour. I suspect this is due to Labour running well in the polls which of course means the Scottish nationalists are running scared.

Cue more letters from local nationalist activists blaming Westminster, the Tories and the 'red Tories' (Labour) for all Scotland’s problems.

Makes you wonder what the SNP have done for Scotland since 2007.

Cardboard boxes filled with freebies and free prescriptions for the well off and those that can afford them seems to be their biggest claim to fame - money that would be better targeted at those in severe need.

Finally, your correspondent referred to “likely future MP Martin McCluskey".

It's even obvious to him/her how bad the situation is for the Scottish nationalists.
