I READ with absolute astonishment the appointment of both councillors, Francesca Brennan and Elizabeth Robertson, to a town centre board set up to direct £45 million of investment in central Greenock.

Has this council not learned its lesson in appointing unqualified individuals to such important projects?

Neither of these councillors has any experience in town centre regeneration or, in fact, any regeneration projects.

Neither have any business experience, nor have either ever been involved in a project of this magnitude.

Neither have ever worked with the stakeholders who will be involved in bringing this project together.

Neither have any experience in environmental, regeneration, or planning.

Neither have been employed nor have any experience delivering projects directly aimed at tackling poverty, deprivation, or drug and alcohol addiction.

I would urge Inverclyde Council to reconsider these appointments immediately. I would also urge the councillors themselves to not take up these positions.
