NEW Ton star Kudus Oyenuga scored the equaliser against Dumbarton on Saturday with his first touch — but was more focused on the chances he squandered in the last few minutes of the game.
The 23-year-old former Dundee United striker bagged his first goal in Morton colours to snatch a point against a stubborn Dumbarton outfit, but he missed two gilt-edged opportunities to steal all three points for the Cappielow men.
And the striker’s high standards would not allow him to see the positives of his goal, but rather focus on the squandered chances.
He said: “I’m just disappointed that I didn’t take my chances. I had two big chances that should have been goals so I’m a bit disappointed.
“There’s no excuses. I’ve got to score both of them I think. With the standards I set myself, I should be scoring the two of them.
“But that’s football. I’ve got to try and take the positives from today but I’m disappointed I didn’t score the two goals.
“It could have been a hat-trick but that’s just football. That’s just what it’s like sometimes.”
Oyenuga made an obvious impact as a substitute but hopes he has done enough to work his way into manager Jim Duffy’s starting squad.
He said: “I’ve come on and I thought I made an impact so I’ve just got to keep on going. It was a case of right place, right time and I’ve just put it in.”
