TON forward Kudus Oyenuga says he feels ready to play more often for Morton after his first goal on Saturday, but acknowledged it’s not going to be easy to knock starting strikers off their perch.

Oyenuga replaced Jamie Lindsay at the weekend and scored the equaliser against Dumbarton with his first meaningful touch of the ball.

The powerful striker said the goal has done nothing but whet his appetite for more opportunities to find the back of the net for his new side, but acknowledges that he needs to work hard to muscle his way into the starting line-up.

He told the Tele: “Jai [Quitongo] and Gaz [Gary Oliver] have been brilliant up top so I haven’t really been put in. I’ve got to wait for my chance and bide my time. I can’t really just come in and expect to play because they’ve been doing so well.

“It’s up to the gaffer so I’ve got to just keep my head up. We’ve been in some really good form so it’s just been about biding my time and waiting for a chance.

“The gaffer and the boys have been really helpful and just told me to get my fitness up and hopefully I can do well and score more goals.”

The striker also insists that he has been welcomed with open arms by his new team-mates and said that he is happy working with such a tight-knit band of players.

He added: “Joining a new team it’s obviously going to take some time to settle in. I’ve only been here for two or three weeks but I’ve already been getting to know the boys and they are a really good bunch.”
