MORTON defender Thomas O’Ware says he would love to repeat his goalscoring heroics from his last visit to Easter Road — but knows it will be a tough task facing Hibs.
O’Ware netted the opener in a famous 3-0 victory for Morton over the Hibees back in February, a result which dealt a massive blow to the Leith side’s title challenge.
And the big centre-half told the Tele that his team are fully prepared for a different type of match on Saturday against a stronger Hibs team.
He said: “My goal in that game was a high. It was also a bit unexpected but you never know what can happen in a game. They [Hibs] have a lot more quality than other teams in the league with regards to facilities and things like that.
“They’ll be wanting to go up [to the Premiership] without any hiccups this year.
“They’ll be treating every league game like it’s a cup final, so we need to be at our best. Hopefully they have an off-day.”
While he’s not expecting a repeat of the emphatic scoreline from the last time the Ton played in the capital, O’Ware still anticipates a competitive game, one in which the Cappielow side will, as usual, give their all.
Morton have already caused a shock this season with a 2-1 Betfred League Cup victory over Premiership side Hamilton Accies.
O’Ware added: “I don’t think anyone goes to Easter Road thinking they’re going to win 3-0, especially in this division.
“Anything we do get from these types of games will be a bonus.
“But we aren’t going into it expecting to lose, we’ll be trying to do as well as we can and we’ll see what happens on the day.”
