MORTON are to continue testing their new advance ticketing system for next week’s Betfred League Cup tie against Dundee United.

The Cappielow club began their trial with last month’s fixture against Dumbarton.

Now they’ve announced more tests will take place against the Tangerines.

A club spokesman said: “Following a successful small-scale trial of our new ticketing system during last month’s Ladbrokes Championship fixture against Dumbarton, the club have decided to increase and extend the test allocation for our Betfred Cup quarter-final tie against Dundee United on Tuesday September 20.

“We were sufficiently satisfied with the Dumbarton trial and are now offering the opportunity for more supporters to purchase tickets in advance in order to further evaluate the system before rolling out a full implementation, after which concessions and other reduced price admissions can be purchased in advance.

“For the Dundee United Betfred Cup fixture tickets can be purchased from

Smiths of Greenock in the town centre and from Cappielow between 1 and 3pm and then after the match on the day of our home match against Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday.”

Tickets will also be available online at http://greenockmortonfc.eventgenius.co.uk and these can be printed off at home or shown to the turnstile operator using a smartphone to display the barcode on the ticket.

The club said: “For supporters purchasing online, the extended trial will consist of 200 main stand tickets and 200 for the Cowshed, the scanning facility to validate tickets will be clearly signposted above each turnstile where the operator will be in possession of the scanner required to validate the ticket.”

Smiths started selling adult, concession, children and parent and child tickets yesterday.

Tickets are priced at £18 for adults, £15 for concessions and £5 for children while it’s £18 for parent and child admission.
Pay at the gate will still be available for supporters not taking part in the trial.
