GREENOCK Cricket Club held their end of season presentations following a successful league programme.

The event was a chance to celebrate the 1st XI achieving a return to the Premier Division after just one season in the WDCU First Division.

The players’ 1st XI player of the year award was won by Harry Briggs following a fine season with the bat and for his motivation of the team throughout the summer.

Harry also won the top 1st XI club batsman of the year award having scored 367 league runs.

The players’ 2nd XI player of the year award was won by Eddie Ahmad.

The 2nd XI (Glenpark) finished the season in fine style by soundly beating the top two teams in their league, giving great encouragement to the team and the club for season 2023.

Eddie was also the top 2nd XI bowler with 19 wickets in the league.

Gregor Chambers gained the top 1st XI bowler of the year award for a very successful season, in which he took 36 wickets in all competitions.

His best performance was saved for the final league match of the season when he took a career best of eight wickets for just 22 runs against Hillhead.

The 2nd XI captain, Peter Janampally, won the top 2nd XI batting award for his 358 runs scored during the season.

The club’s two overseas amateurs from Australia were recognised for their immense contributions to the 1st XI’s achievement in gaining promotion back to the Premier Division. All rounder of the year award went to Ryan Walker, who scored 748 runs and took 47 wickets during the league season.

Tom Nicholson received the highest individual score award for his innings of 156 not out against Poloc.

Their awards were presented by club stalwart Peter Robertson.
