SOMETHING special was brewing at Ardgowan Bowling Club as its members enjoyed the return of its popular annual coffee morning.
The Greenock club’s members banded together to put on a fantastic spread of home-baking, teas and coffees for those who came along.
Around 80 people attended the successful event, which brought in over £500 for club funds.
A raffle was also held as part of proceedings, which featured more than 40 prizes kindly donated by members.
The club are now looking ahead to their opening day on April 20, when their president Jim Cleland will officially get the new season underway.
Mr Cleland will be the first member of the club’s tennis section to hold the office of president.
Ardgowan Bowling Club honorary secretary Gilbert McCracken told the Telegraph that excitement is building ahead of the new season.
He said: “Everyone is looking forward to getting back out to play again and you could see that at the coffee morning.
“A lot of effort went into preparing things - lots of people helped and lots of people turned up.
“We’re very grateful to everyone who was involved.
“We’re lucky to have so many people who are willing to give up their time or make donations to help with events like this.
“It was good to see so many come along and support the club this year and we hope that those who can make it will join us again on opening day.”
