WE knew the poor start to the season would get better, we knew unfortunately that the unbeaten run would eventually come to an end and we knew (or prayed) that the recent poor run of results would finally end with a good Morton victory!

There was certainly a sense of relief with the win over Queen's Park on Saturday but the fact that it was achieved with a clean sheet also made it all the more sweeter and hopefully puts an end to the fear of being dragged into the relegation battle.

Hopefully we can start to look upwards again and continue to challenge for the promotion play-offs although that might take something like four wins from the last six games to achieve that goal?

Probably the main bonus we took from Saturday apart from the victory was the excellent performance from Jack Bearne in what was a rare start for him and also the cameo from Jai Quitongo where he looked much more like his old self.

I live in hope that the fully fit squad we have will rise to the massive challenge ahead and secure that final play-off spot which over the course of the season I really do think they merit!

Maybe then I will say with a degree of confidence that I “knew” they could do it!
