MORTON midfielder Cameron Blues says a fast start and the first goal holds the key to beating Arbroath tomorrow.

The Cappielow midfielder says that in a league that is so tight in terms of quality, getting ahead is massive.

Blues believes that netting early doors would allow he and his teammates to settle and take control of proceedings.

He told the Tele: "It is so close in this league in terms of quality.

"If you get the first goal and you defend well then you've got a good chance of not losing the game. That tells you why it becomes so important to get it.

"I think we're at our best when we start games fast and get at teams. It settles the boys down and you're able to manage your way through the game from there. Hopefully we can get back to that on Saturday.

"It would be nice to finish off strongly. We need to take it game by game but a good run in these last three games would be a good challenge to set ourselves."
